Reid Hagler
At work, Reid Hagler says his goal is "to give excellent customer service and help the other employees when they need it."
When
walking through his section of Lowe's Hardware in Wilmington, he asks
everyone he passes if he can help them find something.
Reid
has worked there for only three months, and says that his
four-and-a-half years of previous experience at Home Depot prepared him
to hit the ground running at Lowe’s.
He was born prematurely, or as Reid calls it "a little medium rare.” Weighing only one pound seven-and-a-half ounces at birth, this led to hearing and vision loss.
Reid has overcome hurdles with previous employers, who did not fully believe in his capabilities. He always brings a strong work ethic to every job and wants to "show others that I can do the job just as well as anyone else can - disability or no disability, it doesn't matter."

Reid works the floor, which means keeping products organized and easy to find. Here, he reorganizes tools in his section at Lowe’s.
Because he was born with both hearing and vision loss, Reid must get very close to products to clearly read all of the information about them. He doesn’t let his disability stop him from being the best employee he can be.
Excelling in customer service, Reid always goes the extra mile for customers by making sure they get the products they need and have a good experience while shopping at the home improvement store.
Always making work fun, Reid jokes around with his coworker, John Kuschke, while they work together. Reid and John have known each other for a long time and John often gives Reid rides to and from work.
