John Holshouser is self-employed as a farmer.
With the help of his wife, Martha, he maintains roughly 50 head of beef cattle on a 75-acre farm outside of Salisbury, NC.
story began when he was serving our country in Vietnam. A rocket, that
was designed to destroy everything within 75 feet, landed eight feet
away from John.
After losing 24 pints of blood and
suffering multiple physical injuries, it was determined that he would
lose his left arm. John also sustained significant damage to his right
After spending months in the hospital and
rehab, he found his way home and was able to return to his roots of
working on the family farm.
While John has the
assistance of digital and traditional prosthetics available to him, he
prefers to work with what God let him keep.
At 70 years old, John is still up every morning tending to his herd.
