Carolyn Sampson
Carolyn Sampson works with her
mother, Elise, at their bakery, Reason to Bake in Pisgah Forest, NC.
Carolyn lives with Down syndrome.
The bakery specializes in gluten-free, all natural, made-from-scratch cookies.
Carolyn,
who loves to bake, preps recipes, makes and bakes cookies and cupcakes
while also maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen. Some of her
favorites things about the job are working with the dough and enjoying
the smell of their freshly baked cookies.
She is all smiles as she makes cookies “that change the world.” Her favorites are chocolate chip, cranberry oatmeal and spicy ginger.
Currently,
Reason to Bake cookies are sold in a variety of coffee and gourmet
shops across North Carolina in Black Mountain, Brevard, Hickory, Saluda
and in Franklin, Tennessee.
In addition to working, Carolyn is also active in the Special Olympics.

Carolyn adds a pinch of salt to the mix as she prepares to make more delicious cookies and cupcakes. Being gluten-free, she determines the right ingredients in each recipe.

An avid baker, Carolyn mixes ingredients at the bakery she runs with her mother, Reason to Bake, in Pisgah Forest.

Carolyn’s ingredient list ensures that each cookie and cupcake she makes will be delicious.

“Handmade cookies so good, you’ll never miss the gluten,” is the motto on Reason to Bake’s T-shirt proudly worn by Carolyn.
