Daniel Landry
Daniel Landry, who has Asperger's
syndrome, works at Harris Teeter and the Autism Society in Asheville,
NC. He also leads a local Asperger's social support group called
Asperger's United.
Originally, he received
services at the Autism Society, but then started working there. He helps
provide respite care, skill support training and job training for other
individuals living with intellectual or other developmental
disabilities. This has provided Daniel a way to give back.
At
Harris Teeter, where he works as a cashier and a customer service
support provider, he has received Employee of the Month and continues to
receive praise from his colleagues for his progress.
Since
Daniel enjoys helping people, he launched Asperger's United for
individuals with Asperger's to provide a safe and comfortable way for
members to meet and socialize with others.
He hopes to continue to further his career at Harris Teeter and to grow Asperger's United throughout western North Carolina.
As a disability advocate and a customer support provider at Harris Teeter, Daniel Landry has supported other people with disabilities across Asheville, NC.
Daniel launched the local support and self advocacy group, Asperger's United to provide a safe and comfortable way for members to meet and socialize with others.
In 2014, Daniel was rewarded with a Partners in Policymaking award for his dedication to helping those with developmental disabilities.
Daniel stands smiling proudly about his accomplishments in the disability community and as he climbs the career ladder at Harris Teeter.
